vall\u00e9e de la Vallongue. Appel\u00e9e \u00ab Camp Romain \u00bb par l\u2019Institut G\u00e9ographique National, certains auteurs en font remonter l\u2019origine \u00e0 l\u2019age de fer. Le point de vue y est remarquable, \u00e0 l\u2019ouest sur les C\u00e9vennes, au nord le mont Bouquet, \u00e0 l\u2019est le mont Ventoux et au sud vers la mer. On y trouve des vestiges de fortification. L\u2019existence de ce camp est attest\u00e9e par le pr\u00e9sence de nombreuses tra\u00een\u00e9es de pierres au sommet de la colline ainsi que par des restes de petits murs r\u00e9partis sur la pente. Apr\u00e8s sa victoire sur les troupes royales au Devois de Martignargues en mars 1704, il est trahi par une femme du village et, le 19 avril 1704, les insurg\u00e9s sont surpris par les soldats du Marquis de Lalande qui d\u00e9truisent toutes ses r\u00e9serves et font exploser son arsenal d\u00e9molissant partiellement les Celui-ci \u00e9tant d\u00e9sireux de calmer les esprits de ses concitoyens sur le fait qu\u2019 ils payaient une taxe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise catholique pour l\u2019utilisation de leurs lieux de culte. Le village compte \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 300 \u2018\u2019Parpaillots \u2018\u2019 pour 350 habitants. Les pierres de constructions proviennent de la carri\u00e8re des \u2018\u2019Arenas\u2019\u2019 situ\u00e9e dans les bois d\u2019Euzet. Une participation financi\u00e8re des fid\u00e8les permettra de boucler le budget d\u00e9di\u00e9 a l\u2019\u00e9difice. Il faudra attendre 1860 pour le d\u00e9couvrir tel qu\u2019il est aujourd\u2019hui. Des restaurations furent faites notamment l\u2019Achat d\u2019une plus grosse cloche financ\u00e9e elle aussi par les int\u00e9ress\u00e9s.
